Our mission
Founded in 1997, Elva Resa Publishing LLC is a small independent publishing company whose mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of people who read the words and pictures we publish.
Our team
We have an exceptional team of publishing professionals who have a passion for good books and extensive experience in publication research, writing, editing, design, marketing, and public relations.
We partner with publisher reps, printers, and fulfillment companies to produce and distribute our products.
What we publish
Under our primary imprint, Elva Resa, we publish books, newsletters, and workshop materials for families and professionals. In 2005, we began phasing out our previous general interest and reference titles to focus on books for military families under the Elva Resa imprint.
The purpose of our children's imprint, Alma Little, is to bring a diverse world of possibilities and opportunities to children and to share our proceeds with organizations that help make those possibilities and opportunities a reality. Alma Little is a general interest children's imprint and does not focus on military family lifestyle.
Our third imprint, Juloya, will launch in 2009 focusing on inspirational works.
We accept queries from agents as well as authors directly. We favor relatively unknown authors and illustrators who are very good at what they do. All accepted manuscripts go through an in-depth evaluation, edit, and design review prior to publication. We focus on products that will make a difference in the lives of our readers as we encourage and help our authors and illustrators continue on their worthy journeys.
Please note that submissions for Elva Resa are accepted on an ongoing basis (please see Contact Us). Alma Little accepts submissions on a call for manuscripts basis only.
Juloya does not accept unsolicited manuscripts at this time.
What does the name Elva Resa mean?
In a literal Swedish translation, "elva" means "eleven" and "resa" means "journey." It has been said that entrepreneurs fail ten times before they succeed. When our founders were searching for a name for this new company, they drew from the heritage of an incredible Swedish woman (Gramma) and decided to begin with the eleventh journey.
