About Patrick Patrick was always one with God’s nature, the ocean, and mountains. From an early age, his love for catching an ocean wave on a surfboard next to dolphins and riding that wave to shore is what he lived for on early mornings and evenings along the coasts of Virginia, North Carolina, and California. And the bigger the wave, the better. He was one with mountains of snow when he maneuvered a board beneath solid feet, balanced in the air across moguls, and flew across ravines. A soft spoken man, with a glowing smile, he spent time casting for fish or swinging a golf club with those nearest to him. And what a great chef when it came to preparing meals fit for the Academy Awards. As we mourn the physical loss of Patrick, a national hero, we know this: Patrick is sending his love and asks that we trust that he left our side doing that which he loved with all his heart, pride, and dignity. He chose to lay his life on the line so that other men, women, and children can receive freedom from fear of tyranny just as he and we have been given our free lives. Patrick says find the things in this life that you will love doing: surf a wave, glide down the side of a mountain, catch a fish, hit a golf ball, cook up a great meal, do a job with dignity, and love with all sincerity of heart. Patrick says he will always be with us in any room where his name is called. |
