Karen Pavlicin

Karen Pavlicin is an award-winning, bestselling author known for her practicality, inspirational insight, and sense of humor. An accomplished business leader and hall of fame athlete, she is a sought-after keynote speaker on a variety of topics. Karen’s challenging yet positive experiences during her Marine husband’s many deployments, and her volunteer work with military families, inspired her to write Surviving Deployment and lead military family workshops. She wrote her newest book, Life After Deployment, to help with the many challenges military families face during their reunions. She regularly consults with family organizations, counselors, and schools to support military families.

Jessica Redmond
|
Jessica Redmond has worked as a teacher, freelance journalist, Peace Corps volunteer, and community organizer, but one of her most challenging roles has been as a military wife. In April 2003, during their first year of marriage, her husband was sent to Iraq as part of the U.S. Army's First Armored Division. As the deployment dragged on, Jessica set out to discover how other wives were coping. She tells six women’s stories in her first book, A Year of Absence. Jessica has written for Stars and Stripes and The Dallas Morning News.

Rachel Robertson

An author and educator focused on child development, Rachel Robertson combined her professional training and personal experience supporting her two children through her husband’s military deployments to create Deployment Journal for Kids. She writes for parenting publications nationally and leads workshops for military kids. Rachel is the Quality Initiatives Specialist for Knowledge Learning Corporation and a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, National Child Care Association, and National Association of Child Care Professionals. Rachel offers scrapbooking and journaling workshops for military kids around the country.

Deborah Tainsh

After her step-son, U.S. Army Sergeant Patrick Tainsh, was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq, Deborah Tainsh wrote Heart of a Hawk: One family’s sacrifice & journey toward healing. Known for her good cheer and compassion, Deborah speaks with military families and civilians around the country. Her message: We must honor the heroism of our nation’s armed forces and the families left behind. Deborah’s poems are included in the National Endowment for the Arts archives of Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience.
